Malaysia IPOs Bar Chart Race- 2020/2021 Performance Overview

Introduction

Looking back at the number of people diagnosed with COVID-19 in different countries these days, I thought of a dynamic chart I previously saw on the YouTube platform.

Covid 19 cases 2020

The dynamic chart represents data that changes according to the time axis, illustrating trends in various statistics such as column/line type/ranking, etc.

For example, it can depict the daily confirmed cases of new COVID-19 infections in various countries. Additionally, it may include population data, fluctuations in the market value of listed companies, and even the composition of political parties in Congress.

When I went to search for this dynamic chart again, I recalled that it seems to be used in the realm of IPOs.

This prompted me to watch some tutorials. If you're interested in learning about computer work software, you can check out the Papaya电脑教室 channel.

Following the tutorials, I downloaded, compared, calculated, and ranked the price data for IPOs that launched in 2020. It took me about two hours to gather and reorganized the data for use on a platform that creates dynamic charts, specifically the Flourish online tool website.

The chart includes - Optimax, Samaiden, TCS, MRDIY, Econframe, Flexidynamic, Volcano, CEKD, Tuju Setia, Ramssol Berhad, Netscon Berhad, and Haily Group Berhad.

So, what exactly is the function of this dynamic chart?

In essence, it records the return rate of all IPOs that have been listed since 2020 in relation to their IPO prices. The time is calculated from the listing date of the first IPO in 2020, often spanning nearly two minutes.

You can also use this dynamic chart to observe the overall performance and the return rate competition between different IPOs.

From this dynamic chart, you can glean some notable IPO results. Here are a few simple records:

  • So far, 11 IPOs have risen, 1 has remained flat, and 2 IPOs have fallen compared to their IPO prices.
  • There are 5 IPOs with returns nearing 100% or more, specifically Optimax, Samaiden, TCS, MRDIY, and EconFrame.

In the future, we may create dynamic charts for IPOs from 2019 and earlier, but this will depend on whether a better layout or idea emerges, so don’t hold your breath.
